ADA & Accessibility

The Detroit People Mover is committed to accessible service for all riders. This page provides key accessibility information, assistance contacts, and station-specific notices.

Passenger Boarding

Elevators and/or escalators are available at People Mover stations. Grand Circus Park is accessible via elevator only.

Stations and vehicles accommodate electric scooters used by patrons with disabilities. Manual wheelchair securements are available on each train.

Announcements

Automated announcements help riders identify the current station, the next approaching station, and door opening and closing.

Service Delays & Emergency Assistance

During a hold, delay, or service stoppage, live announcements are made in stations and on trains. Riders may wait in the station or exit in a calm manner while service is disrupted.

If emergency evacuation is required, riders should notify the Control Center using the emergency communication system or call 313-963-0171.

Service Animals

Service animals and leader dogs are welcome aboard Detroit People Mover trains. Harness or leash is required.

Reasonable Modification Policy

Requests for reasonable modifications may be made by calling 313-224-2160 or emailing civilrights@thepeoplemover.com.

ADA complaints may be submitted to the ADA Coordinator by email at civilrights@thepeoplemover.com or by fax at (313) 224-2134.

Additional Assistance

Emergency communication systems are located inside trains, at both station levels, and inside elevators. These connect directly to the System Control Center.

For deaf, hearing-impaired, or speech-loss individuals using TTY/teletypewriter services in Michigan, dial 7-1-1.

Paratransit Service

Same-day paratransit service is available citywide through DDOT Now for eligible DDOT paratransit riders. View the paratransit application.
